Today's topic of bitching? Insurance.

Insured comes from the word, sure. To be insured is to be sure that in the case of any unforeseen circumstances you are being paid for your loss.

Insurance targets people's insecurity. The loss of life and the loss of basic abilities. Loss of life is something that we cant control or know off. So getting that insured is just merely helping your love ones go through the tough time.

The loss of basic ability is something rather subjective. I asked a friend of mine, who shed me some light on this whole insurance thing, "what are the odds of me getting hospitalised?". No answer. Reason being, the odd are different for different people. A man in his 40's, overweight, doesnt exercise but has no current ailments is probably someone i would recommend getting insured. He could fall sick real soon. A man in his 20's who loves outdoor activities and is very active is sports would be another person i would recommend getting insured. He might get himself injured or permanently disabled from his activities. Me? I exercise every now and then, I play pool, run a little. I dont play any "rough" games. I dont really play soccer. So what does being insured really do for me?

I'm not condemning the whole insurance thing. It is a good thing IF you have the extra cash. They always say, "what if one day you become disabled?". The thing is they didnt continue the question. "what if one day you become disabled, would you be sitting around and do nothing or do something about your disability so as to live your life as normally as possible?". see the difference?

Insurance targets peoples insecurity. So think before you get one.
